The event was attended by leaders of the Ministry of National Defense, the General Department of Politics, and the General Staff.
At the conference, delegates listened to a report highlighting the defense ministry’s leadership over military-defense missions last month. Despite difficulties, the ministry’s leaders directed all defense agencies and military units to comprehensively implement military-defense missions, particularly in maintaining a firm combat readiness posture and providing timely advice for senior levels to promptly deal with unexpected issues.
In addition, the units coordinated with each other to ensure absolute safety for important political events and major holidays of the Party and military.
Defense agencies and military units carried out training for troops while observing COVID-19 prevention and control, especially the Vietnamese military delegation participating in the International Army Games 2020 (Army Games 2020) in Russia.
The quality of the militia and self-defense forces in localities across the country also improved.
Defense agencies and military units continued completing civil defense plans and conducting search and rescue missions, while maintaining safe cyber operations, and ensuring information safety for command and control systems.
They also prepared documents and plans, and successfully organized the 11th Military Party Congress of the 2020-25 term. Meanwhile, the external defense service further promoted relations and cooperation with defense forces of other countries. The logistical supplies and technical services met the requirements for both regular and unexpected tasks of military units.
Speaking at the event, General Lich praised the remarkable outcomes of all military units and defense agencies in implementing their assigned tasks and the successful organization of the 11th Military Party Congress of the 2020-25 term.
The defense minister ordered the military to maintain combat readiness, closely follow all situations, and provide timely advice for the Party and State to address unexpected situations, deploy forces to fight against acts of encroachment on sea and border areas, and conduct search and rescue missions.
Defense agencies and military units were also asked to prepare for year-end conference on their task performances, and evaluate levels of task accomplishment of their Party organizations as well as working qualities of all cadres and Party members.
Gen. Lich underlined that relevant forces should ensure combat readiness while enhancing border management and fighting drug crimes, human trafficking, and trade fraud, especially during the last months of 2020.
The defense minister went on to say that defense agencies and military units should enhance political, ideological, and legal education for troops, thus completing all assigned tasks in the coming time.
