PANO – General Do Ba Ty, Chief of the General Staff and Deputy Minister of National Defence, on February 2nd paid a pre-Tet or Lunar New Year visit to and inspected factories Z121 and Z113 under the General Department of Defence and Industry, Regiment 148 of Division 316, the Military Command of Doan Hung district of Phu Tho Province.

Having inspected the combat readiness, production activities, and preparations for the coming new year festival, General Ty acknowledged and lauded the units for their efforts in maintaining combat readiness, ensuring safety during the 12th National Party Congress, effectively carrying out political and ideological education, conducting social and gratitude activities for national contributors and policy beneficiaries, and preparing for the coming important events of the year.
He also asked Party committees and commanders of agencies and units to continue grasping the instructions and resolutions of the Party, State, Central Military Commission, and the Ministry of National Defence, arousing troops’ determination to take and fulfill assigned missions before, during, and after Tet, raising troops’ material and spiritual life, and strictly observing disciplines.
* The same day, a delegation, led by Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh, Deputy Defence Minister inspected Military Hospital 175, Corporation 28, Joint-stock Company 32, Airports Corporation of Vietnam, and Saigon Newport Corporation.
Praising the units for their achievements in carrying out military and defence missions and developing the economy last year, General Vinh asked the units to make more efforts to boost their productivity, improve living standards of workers, and carry out policy work well.
In the short term, companies and corporations were asked to organize a joyful and economical Tet for troops and staff.

* Also on February 2nd, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Thanh Cung, Deputy Defence Minister, visited and extended New Year wishes to troops of a number of military units and agencies.
During the visit, General Cung was briefed on the results of their task implementation last year, guidelines and missions in 2016, and preparations for the coming Tet festival.
On behalf of the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defence, General Cung praised achievements recorded by the Defence Ministry’s Inspection, Military Women and Youth Boards, the Department of Policies, and Border Guard Command over the past time.
He asked the Border Guard Command to promote border management and international cooperation, and closely follow the situation in border areas to deal with problems in a timely way. Other units and agencies were requested to maintain combat readiness and pay attention to taking care of policy beneficiaries, needy people, and troops in the whole army.
* Lieutenant General Tran Don, Deputy Defence Minister, extended Tet greetings and inspected combat readiness mission at Brigades 125 and 171 of Naval Region 2, Coast Guard Region 3 Command, Southern Vietnam Helicopter Company, Military and Border Guard Command of Ba Ria-Vung Tau province, and Long Dat Convalescent Center for Wounded Soldiers and National Contributors in Long Dat district.

At Long Dat Convalescent Center for Wounded Soldiers and Naitonal Contributors, General Don presented gifts to wounded and sick soldiers and affirmed that the Ministry of National Defence attaches much importance to taking care of them. He hoped that the former soldiers will strive to overcome difficulties and continue contributing to the nation’s revolutionary cause. Apart from the gifts, the general asked Military Zone 7 Command and Ba Ria-Vung Tau Military Command to present military uniforms to the soldiers.
At military units, General Don praised the units for their efforts to fulfill assigned tasks, making contributions to defending national sovereignty over sea and islands and in border areas, and asked them to heighten vigilance and maintain combat readiness, and prepare a joyful and economic Tet for troops.
