At the event, delegates evaluated that the political security and social order and safety in sea border and adjacent waters among Hai Phong city, Quang Ninh province, and Thai Binh province have been stably maintained. However, some problems such as smuggling, trade fraud, illegal transportation of goods, illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing have emerged. The situation of accidents and collisions in adjacent waters have still happened.

In response to the situation, the Hai Phong municipal Border Guard Command, the Quang Ninh provincial Border Guard Command, and the Thai Binh provincial Border Guard Command have strictly coordinated to closely follow situational development; exchange information related to the situation of foreign ships’ encroaching on Vietnam’s waters; conduct search and rescue; resolve disputes and collisions at sea. The border guard forces of the three localities have jointly organized patrols to strictly manage people and vehicles and promptly detect and effectively fight crimes, especially drug trafficking, smuggling, and trade fraud at sea and in sea border.

Speaking at the event, Commanding Officer of the Hai Phong municipal Border Guard Command Colonel Ta Duy Hien suggested the units forecast possible situations and pro-actively coordinate to protect sea border and adjacent waters.

He urged the border guard forces of the three localities to regularly exchange information about situations at sea, foster coordination in conducting search and rescue and crime prevention, and prevent IUU fishing.

At the conference, leaders of the units signed an agreement to foster coordination to protect border and adjacent waters, strengthen dissemination of the Vietnam Border Guard Law, and protect national sovereignty over sea, island, and adjacent waters.
