The congress reviewed the past term’s achievements, highlighting the border guard force’s effective crime prevention and control efforts. Attentively, the force effectively implemented over 20 programs and initiatives for border communities, including building more than 50 public facilities, presenting over 1,000 compassion houses, supporting 12,100 disadvantaged students, including those from Laos and Cambodia, and maintaining partnerships with border protection forces of neighboring countries.

Gen. Chien praised the Party Organization of the Vietnam Border Guard’s accomplishments and directed the Party Committee of the Vietnam Border Guard to continue strictly implementing the Party, State and military’s guidelines and directives on military and defense affairs and border management.

They were urged to resolutely fight against violations of territorial sovereignty, maintain national security, strengthen international cooperation, and effectively restructure local military organizations and border guard units in an elite, compact and strong manner.

Gen. Chien asked them to direct the close coordination with relevant forces to continue to build firm whole people border posture coupled with people security in border areas.

He also urged delegates to contribute constructive opinions to the draft documents of the upcoming 14th National Party Congress and the 12th Military Party Congress, and to conduct elections responsibly to ensure the success of the congress.
