The event was attended by Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien, Deputy Minister of National Defense, and Vietnam Border Guard Commander Lieutenant General Le Duc Thai.
In his keynote address, the principal, Senior Colonel Nguyen Quang Thuyen, highlighted the school’s 65-year history of development. Initially focusing on training service dogs for combat and security purposes, the school has now expanded to five majors. Over the years, it has trained more than 6,400 handlers and service dogs.

The school has also provided training for various domestic and international agencies, including the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces, the Cambodian National Police, the General Department of Vietnam Customs, and other units within the Vietnam People’s Army. Notably, the school has obtained outstanding achievements when undertaking important missions, such as search-and-rescue operations in Turkey.
Furthermore, the school has actively participated in defense external affairs, including Vietnam’s border defense exchange programs with China, Laos, and Cambodia; drills for natural disaster response and humanitarian relief among ASEAN militaries; search and rescue exercises among Vietnamese, Lao and Cambodian militaries, and the International Army Games.

In recognition of its exceptional attainments, the school was honored with the first- and second-class Fatherland Protection Orders on this special occasion.
Addressing the ceremony, Gen. Chien praised the school’s achievements and emphasized the need for continued efforts to meet task requirements in the current context.
He also requested the school to prepare for its role in performance and security measures for the Vietnam International Defense Expo 2024.
