To honor their outstanding achievements in overcoming the consequences of Yagi Typhoon, the defense minister presented 11 outstanding Youth Union members with certificates of merit.
Especially, in 2024, they have continued conducting the “Paving the way to school for children - Adopted children of border posts” program, taking care of 42 students, with the total fund of more than VND 163 million. In addition, they have also worked with local Youth Union chapters to support natural disaster-hit victims, among others.
Role of military youths affirmed
Apart from training tasks, the Youth Union chapters under the Border Guard School No.24 have carried out various practical activities. For example, since the beginning of this year, they have collected 470kg of plastic waste and 250kg of recycle waste, contributing to building the bright, green, clean, and beautiful environment; and effectively conducted the program “Traffic safety – Responsibility and happiness of each soldier.”
At the same time, they have organized projects within the Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign in 2024 and the Festive Day “Youths in the military with traffic culture,” drawing the participation of 100% of members of the school’s Youth Union. Accordingly, they have teamed up with local schools and youths to clean up the surroundings of a kindergarten, repair a playground for children, and clean up the environment.
Ms. Truong Thi Thuy Huong from Dong An hamlet, Thuy An commune, Ba Vi district, Hanoi shared that over the past time, she has actively joined hands with soldiers of the Border Guard School No.24 to act for the environment. These activities have helped raise the participants’ responsibility and awareness of the environmental protection and climate change response.
In the time to come, youths of the Border Guard School No.24 plan to further boost their emulation drive towards major events of the country and military, especially the coming 65th founding anniversary of the school (December 15, 1959 - 2024).
