The visiting delegates included Colonel Nak Vicheck, Deputy Chief of the Army Office and Head of the young officer delegation of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces; and Lieutenant Colonel Soulibanh Sorphappanya, Deputy Head of the Army Youth Office and Head of the young officer delegation of the Lao People’s Army.

During the program, Senior Colonel Ho Sy Chien, Political Commissar of Division 10, briefed the young officer delegations of the three countries on the history and traditions of the division, which has twice been awarded the noble title of Hero of the People’s Armed Forces by the Vietnamese Party and State. Notably, from October 1977 to late June 1979, Division 10 stood side by side with the Cambodian military and people to smash the Pol Pot clique, helping the neighboring country establish a revolutionary government and regain control of its homeland. For these contributions, the division was awarded the First-class Fatherland Protection Order by the Cambodian State.

Senior Colonel Ho Sy Chien emphasized that Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia are close neighbors with a tradition of tight-knit solidarity throughout their histories of national construction and defense. During the years of struggle for national liberation, the militaries and peoples of the three countries always stood shoulder to shoulder, shared weal and woe, and fought in the same trenches against common enemies, thereby writing heroic pages of pure and rare international solidarity.

At the Memorial House for Heroic Martyrs of Division 10, in a solemn and moving atmosphere, the young officer delegations of the three countries respectfully offered flowers and incense and observed a minute of silence in tribute to heroic martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the Fatherland’s independence and freedom, including thousands of martyrs who bravely laid down their lives for the noble international duty.

On this occasion, the young officer delegations of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces and the Lao People’s Army visited the Hall of Fame of Division 10 and joined friendly volleyball matches and cultural exchanges with young officers of the division.
