Since the establishment of communication channel between the Vietnamese and Thai navies and the organization of regular joint patrols in 1997, order, stability, and cooperation on their shared maritime border have been maintained.
Particularly, their joint patrols so far have helped effectively prevent illegal fishing, smuggling, drug trafficking, illegal immigration, and piracy in the region.
In addition, during their joint activities, they practiced search and rescue missions and humanitarian relief. This has in turn deepened the bilateral relationship.
Under the visit’s framework, the two sides exchanged experiences in training at sea, discussed their cooperation terms, and joined volleyball games.
On the morning of April 25, the Vietnamese ships left Songkhla port for Vietnam.
