The two ministers welcomed at the school

The visit was part of the two-day ongoing Vietnam-Laos Border Defense Friendship Exchange which was kick-started on October 22 in Vietnam's Lao Cai province.

Gen. Giang was touched when receiving flowers and a red scarf from the school's students. He was delighted to know that the school's students are well educated about the special solidarity between the two countries and that they are studying in a school full of love and care.

The Vietnamese defense minister stressed that the special and rare solidarity between the two countries is an invaluable asset of the two nations that their young generations, including those in the school, will continue to preserve and cultivate.

He hoped the school's teachers to weather difficulties, light fire of knowledge among students and the school's students to study hard to contribute to Laos’ national development and the special friendship and solidarity between the two countries.

Later the same day, both Vietnamese and Lao ministers attended a groundbreaking ceremony of the barracks of Border Company 214 under the Lao People’s Army. This is a present from the Vietnam People’s Army to its Lao counterpart.

Addressing the event, Gen. Giang emphasized that willing to stand side-by-side with the Lao People’s Army in general and the Lao border protection and management force in particular, and create favorable conditions for border officers to complete their assignments by the Party, State, and military, the Vietnam Ministry of National Defense was delighted to support the building of the barracks for Border Company 214 and hoped that it would be completed soon. He believed that the Lao unit would continue to be a firm bridge for the special relations between the two countries and militaries.
