At the meeting, Gen. Chien highlighted that the bilateral relationship has been constantly consolidated and developed in a deeper and more substantive manner and in accordance with the interests of the two countries, contributing to peace, stability, and development in the region and the world.

On the occasion, the Vietnamese deputy defense minister briefed the French Secretary of State for Veterans and Remembrance on the outcomes of the third Vietnam-France Defense Strategy and Cooperation Dialogue. The two sides agreed on the orientations for future defense cooperation.
He reiterated Vietnam’s stance of respecting history, putting aside the past, looking forwards to the future, joining hands to cultivate friendship and cooperation in accordance with strategic partnership between the two countries. He suggested the French side study new methods to support needy war veterans and their families and cooperate with Vietnam to build, repair, and upgrade war remnant projects, exchange information and war artifacts, and hold seminars on history.
At the meeting, Gen. Chien conveyed the regards and invitation from Minister of National Defense Gen. Phan Van Giang to French Minister of the Armed Forces Sébastien Lecornu to pay an official visit to Vietnam and invited Mrs. Miralles to pay a working visit to Vietnam on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory in 2024.
For her part, the French Secretary of State for Veterans and Remembrance agreed with Gen. Chien’s proposed cooperation contents and thanked Vietnam for creating favorable conditions for France to restore French fallen soldiers’ cemeteries in Vietnam and wished to visit Vietnam and attend the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory in 2024.
She affirmed that France will frankly acknowledge historical truth to build a better relationship with Vietnam. The French side believed that the defense cooperation relationship between the two countries will continuously develop in practical manner to truly become a model in the strategic partnership between Vietnam and France.
On the same day, the Vietnamese delegation visited Airbus Group, during which the group’s leaders said that they will support and participate in the second Vietnam International Defense Expo in 2024.
