Naval Region 5 brings early Tet to Southwestern waters
PANO - On January 9, Ships 527 and 528 of Brigade 127 (Naval Region 5) departed Phu Quoc Island, embarking on a special mission to deliver Lunar New Year (Tet) gifts and supplies to soldiers and civilians stationed in the Southwestern waters.
Laden with traditional symbols of Tet, including Nhat Tan peach blossoms and Quang Ba kumquat trees, along with essential goods from across the country, the vessels carry the warm sentiments of the mainland to the nation’s frontline defenders for the upcoming 2026 Tet holiday.

According to Naval Captain Mai Dang Danh, Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff of Naval Region 5, the delegation is scheduled to visit and extend greetings to personnel and residents on the islands of Hon Chuoi and Hon Khoai (Ca Mau province), as well as Nam Du, Tho Chu, and Hon Doc (Kien Giang province).

Speaking prior to the departure, Rear Admiral Ngo Van Thanh, Political Commissar of Naval Region 5 and Head of the delegation, acknowledged the challenges ahead, including forecast rough seas and difficult logistics. However, he affirmed that all troops are fully committed to ensuring absolute safety and successfully completing the meaningful task.
