Brig. Gen. Go Min-gwan, praising the positive results achieved so far, emphasized the need for both sides to enhance cooperation and information-sharing in combating transnational maritime crimes.

According to the head of the KCG’s Intelligence and International Affairs Bureau, transnational crimes, such as drug trafficking, smuggling, and illegal maritime migration are on the rise, demanding closer and more effective coordination between Vietnamese and Korean authorities. He proposed establishing a dedicated information-sharing mechanism, including a hotline between the KCG’s Intelligence/Foreign Affairs Bureau and the VCG’s crime prevention unit, to facilitate more efficient information exchange in this field.

Looking ahead to 2026, both sides agreed to continue reciprocal ship visits, strengthen cooperation in training, and support each other in hosting multilateral diplomatic events. On this occasion, the VCG invited a KCG delegation to attend the 3rd “Vietnam Coast Guard and Friends” program, scheduled to be held in Hanoi at the end of 2026.

The KCG, in turn, invited the VCG to participate in the “Maritime Safety Exhibition” and a capacity-building training program in 2026.

Both sides agreed that the 14th conference will be hosted in RoK in 2026.
