At the meeting on October 3 at the headquarters of the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense, General Huong emphasized the long-lasting friendship between Vietnam and India.

He also highlighted the bilateral defense ties, saying that it has enjoyed positive developments, especially in personnel training, participation in UN peacekeeping operations, and defense industry.

The Vietnamese senior officer held that the Vietnamese military highly values and acknowledges the Indian military’s support in the past and suggested the two sides continue to develop the bilateral defense ties in an intensive and effective manner with a focus on personnel training, military medicine cooperation, military engineering, and sharing of experience in joining UN peacekeeping operations.

For his part, Major General G. Jaishankar expressed his delight at the positive development of the bilateral defense cooperation and congratulated Vietnam on the deployment of the first military Level-2 Field Hospital to South Sudan.

The Indian general said that with its experience in joining UN peacekeeping operations and military medicine, the Indian military is willing to further share experience and support Vietnamese military in the fields.
