At the meeting, the Vietnamese defense chief congratulated the Japanese diplomat on his successful working term in Vietnam, saying that it helped boost the two countries’ comprehensive strategic partnership for peace and prosperity in Asia and the world in various areas, including defense cooperation.

Gen. Giang assessed that during his tenure, despite bad impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, Ambassador Yamada Takio maintained close contacts with Vietnamese ministries and departments in order to promote the two countries’ relations in a comprehensive, effective, intensive, and substantive manner, especially in such fields as all-level delegation exchanges; defense policy dialogue and consultation mechanisms for naval, army, air force staff officers; and exchanges between arms and services.
The host hoped that Ambassador Yamada Takio would continue to have good sentiments for Vietnamese people and military, and make more contribution to flourishing the relationship between the two countries.
For his part, Ambassador Yamada Takio thanked Gen. Giang and the Ministry of National Defense of Vietnam for their support and close coordination so that he could successfully complete his tenure. He believed that the bilateral defense ties would strongly develop. He affirmed that in any positions, he would exert efforts to strengthen the two nations’ cooperative ties.
* The same day, at his reception for Deputy Minister of National Defense of the Republic of Korea (RoK) Kim Seon Ho who was in Vietnam to co-chair the 11th Vietnam-RoK Defense Policy Dialogue, Defense Minister Phan Van Giang confirmed that Vietnam attaches importance to consolidating and strengthening its comprehensive strategic partnership with the RoK and hopes to deepen the bilateral relations for the common benefits of people of the two countries and for peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.

The Vietnamese minister highly appreciated the outcomes of the aforementioned 11th dialogue which took place in Hanoi a day earlier. He underlined that the bilateral defense ties have developed intensively, effectively and practically on the basis of the important cooperation contents reached by the two defense ministers.
He acknowledged and highly praised the Korean side’s care and support for the war legacy relief in Vietnam, particularly the “Mine Action for Vietnam-RoK peace village” project with the aim of clearing post-war UXO-contaminated areas in Vietnam. He suggested the two sides continue to actively and effectively carry out cooperation contents in fields, such as war legacy relief, and defense industry.
The Vietnamese defense chief invited his counterpart and the Deputy Minister of National Defense of the RoK and Korean defense enterprises to the Vietnam International Defense Expo 2024 slated for December this year.
Korean Deputy Minister of National Defense Kim Seon Ho thanks Gen. Giang for the reception. He stressed that the Vietnam-RoK defense cooperation has sustainably developed, importantly contributing to the development of the two countries’ relations.
The Korean defense official informed the host about the results of the 11th dialogue, especially orientations to promote the bilateral defense ties in the time ahead.
