Vietnamese and Lao units review outcomes of twinning activities
PANO - Vietnam’s Tuyen Quang provincial Military Command and Laos’ Phongsaly provincial Military Command held talks on April 24 in Phongsaly province to review their coordination activities from 2017 to now.
Senior Colonel Dang Van Long, head of the Vietnamese delegation and Commanding Officer of the Tuyen Quang provincial Military Command, and Major General Xiengpheng Bualavong, head of the Lao delegation and Political Commissar of the Phongsaly provincial Military Command, co-chaired the talks.

During the event, the two sides exchanged their outcomes in giving advice to local party committees and authorities to lead and direct the implementation of local military and defense missions; the building of the whole people’s national defense and whole people’s defense posture in combination with whole people’s security posture and provincial defensive areas; their training and combat results; their coordination in conducting information dissemination and promoting the special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.
Over the past time, the two military commands have thoroughly grasped and strictly adhered to the viewpoints, policies, and foreign relations guidelines, particularly in defense diplomacy and international cooperation, of the two parties and states. The two units have coordinated to effectively disseminate information and educate troops and locals about the solidarity and friendship between the two countries; build comprehensively strong, exemplary, and outstanding armed forces and firm defensive areas; carry out social welfare activities; actively exchange experience in implementing military and defense missions.
Speaking at the talks, the Commanding Officer of the Tuyen Quang provincial Military Command and Political Commissar of the Phongsaly provincial Military Command agreed to further promote the twinning activities of the two units in an in-depth, effective, and practical manner.
Right after the talks, the Tuyen Quang and Phongsaly provincial Military Commands sign a memorandum of understanding on twinning activities in 2024.
