The working mission checked the simulation of the training ground of U.N. Mission at Engineering Battalion 31.

To serve the exercise, the Vietnam Department of Peacekeeping Operations (VNDPKO) started promptly designing and installing the simulated training ground in late August. So far, the preparation of facilities for the exercise has basically been completed.  

The end-of-term field training under ADMM+ Experts’ Working Group on Peacekeeping Operations Cycle 4 will be jointly organized by Vietnam and Japan from September 13 to 21 with the participation of experts in peacekeeping operations and trainees from 18 ADMM+ countries and a total of 198 participants, including 172 international delegates.

The exercise will be divided into three stages, namely theoretical training, practical training, and integrated exercise with the participation of military medicine and engineering forces, and military observers. 

In particular, instructors from the Military Medical University, including experienced officers who once worked for the Level-2 Field Hospital Rotation 2 in South Sudan, will equip participants with medical contents, while officials from the VNDPKO will provide content related to military observance. Japanese experts will lecture on engineering contents.

Concluding the inspection, Gen Tan affirmed that the end-of-term field training under ADMM+ Experts’ Working Group on Peacekeeping Operations Cycle 4 is an important external defense relations activity to contribute to affirming Vietnam’s role and responsibility and enhancing its international prestige and position in the multilateral cooperation mechanism in U.N. peacekeeping operations within ADMM+. The event will contribute to strengthening friendship and cooperation in peacekeeping operations between Vietnam and ADMM+ countries. Vietnam’s first co-hosting of the exercise will help affirm the capability and professionalism of the Vietnamese peacekeeping force in joining the mission, striving to become a regional training center in peacekeeping operations. 

Gen. Tan asked relevant agencies and units to review and complete the preparations and urged the Vietnamese experts’ working group to cooperate with Japanese experts to agree on exercise-related contents and promote training for relevant forces to ensure the success of the event, contributing to raising the prestige and image of the Vietnam People’s Army.

On the occasion, the delegation met and exchanged with Japanese experts’ working group who are collaborating with their Vietnamese peers to make preparations for the event. The deputy chief of the General Staff affirmed that Vietnam will create the most favorable conditions for the exercise. Since this is the first time Vietnam hosts the event, Gen. Tan wished for effective cooperation from the Japanese side.

In response, a representative of the Japanese experts’ working group promised to closely cooperate with the Vietnamese side to ensure the success of the upcoming exercise.
