At nearly 10p.m. on July 9 (local time), Aircraft C-17 Globemaster III of the Royal Australian Air Force with 51 members of the field hospital landed at Noi Bai International Airport.

A welcome ceremony was held by the Vietnam Department of Peacekeeping Operations (VNDPKO) right at the airport with the participation of leaders of the Ministry of National Defense’s affiliated agencies and units, VNDPKO, Military Hospital 103, Military Medical University, representatives from the Australian Defense Attaché Office in Vietnam and families of the Level-2 Field Hospital (L2FH) Rotation 4’s staff.

Reporting on the hospital’s achievements at UNMISS, Major Le Viet Anh, Deputy Director of the hospital, said that in more than one year, the hospital gave treatment to 1,468 patients, surgeries to 18 patients and safely conducted medevac for 10 ones. Attentively, its medical staff successfully handled a number of serious cases. The hospital’s examination and treatment satisfied patients, leaving deep impressions on them and the high expertise, professionalism, sense of responsibility and thoughtfulness received high praise.

While performing international duties in South Sudan, the field hospital effectively popularized good images of Vietnam, its people, military, traditional culture among international friends and established good relations with UNMISS’s affiliated agencies.

Happy moment of family reunion after more than one year

With their attainments, the L2FH Rotation 4 many times hosted leaders from U.N. agencies, chains-of-command of UNMISS and other units and received their congratulation and thank-you letters. 

Notably, the L2FH Rotation 4 was the only unit awarded with the certificate of merit presented by the UNMISS Commander and all 63 members were honored with U.N. medals.
