Colonel Mac Thuy Duong hands over certificates to Lao officers.

During the 15-day course, experienced librarians from the Vietnamese Military Library equipped their Lao peers with knowledge and contents related to the library work of the Vietnam People’s Army and the building of information resources. The Lao officers also learnt how to build document catalogues meeting international standards, introduce books and newspapers to readers, apply information technology to carrying out the work, and exploit integrated library management software.

During the course, the Lao librarians also exchanged experience with Vietnamese peers inside and outside the military and visited historical, cultural, and scenic sites in Hanoi and Quang Ninh province.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Director of the Military Library of the Vietnam People’s Army Colonel Mac Thuy Duong emphasized that the course completed the set target of providing basic knowledge about library work for the Lao military librarians.

At the closing ceremony, the officers from the Lao Military Library thanked the General Department of Political Affairs of the Vietnam People’s Army and the Vietnamese Military Library for creating favorable conditions for them to raise their professionalism. The knowledge and experience will help them better serve the demand for reading of Lao troops and people.

On behalf of the Lao officers, Lieutenant Colonel Khumthong Thamavong said that knowledge acquired during the course will help the librarians of the Lao Military Library be more confident in their task performance to better serve readers inside and outside the military, especially in the rapid digital transformation period. 

She said that the Laos officers will apply the acquired knowledge and experience to their task implementation, contributing to further developing the Library of the Lao People’s Army.

At the event, the organizing panel presented certificates and gifts to all members of the course.
