State President’s decision handed over to officer joining peacekeeping operations in Abyei
PANO - Deputy Chief of the General Staff Senior Lieutenant General Phung Si Tan chaired a ceremony on December 27 to hand over the decision of the State President to the officer who will join peacekeeping operations at the U.N. Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA).
In particular, Major Hoang Dinh Cong was sent to replace Captain Le Khuong Duy as a staff officer in light engineering operations at the UNISFA.

Speaking at the event, Sr. Lt. Gen. Phung Si Tan required Maj. Cong to strictly implement the viewpoints and foreign policy of the Party, State and military; observe military discipline and the U.N. regulations, the laws of the host country, the instructions of relevant functional agencies and the Vietnam Department of Peacekeeping Operations (VNDPKO).
Emphasizing that Maj. Cong’s deployment coincides with the 80th founding anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA) and the 35th anniversary of the Whole-people Defense Festive Day, Gen. Tan required Maj. Cong to uphold VPA’s traditions and the Vietnamese blue berets; show their bravery and capability to spread beautiful images of Vietnam and its people and the VPA in the international arena; and ensure absolute safety for personnel and equipment.
Meanwhile, Gen. Tan directed the VNDPKO to continue to strengthen the careful selection of personnel for the coming years under the process to meet the task requirements.
