State President's decisions handed over to the peacekeepers |
Sr. Lt. Gen. Hoang Xuan Chien, Deputy Minister of National Defense and Head of the Intersectoral Working Team as well as Head of the Steering Board of the MND on participation in U.N. peacekeeping operations, chaired the event.
Under the decisions, six officers to be deployed to MINUSCA are Lt. Col. Bui Thi Minh Nguyet, Lt. Col. Nguyen Huy Tuan, Major Duy Van Son, Sr. Capt. Le Van Chien, First Lt. Nguyen Huyen Anh and Capt. Phung Minh Cuong, who will work as officers in charge of training staff, supply staff, operation, intelligence information handling and analysis, information and communications, intelligence staff, respectively. Meanwhile, Maj. Le Thi Bich Ngoc and Sr. Capt. Vu Nguyet Anh will work at UNMISS as military observers.

These officers were selected from the Navy, the Air Defense - Air Force Service, the Signal Corps, the Hanoi Capital Command, the Military Political Academy and the Army Officer Candidate School. They underwent training courses, meeting the U.N. and the MND’s requirements.
In his speech, Gen. Chien congratulated the officers on their deployment. He believed that they would complete all assignments, deserving to be ambassadors of peace of Vietnam, contributing to spreading good qualities of Uncle Ho’s soldiers, Vietnam, its land and people.

He asked them to ensure absolute safety, confidently show their professional expertise, heighten the spirit of self-reliance, be creative and pro-active, exchange views and information and support each other in task performance.
The defense leader also requested agencies and units to prepare a cozy Tet for the peacekeepers taking on duties far from the homeland and a program that connects the homeland and U.N. peacekeeping missions.

He also spoke highly of Vietnam’s continuous sending of peacekeepers holding different positions in U.N. peacekeeping missions with a higher number of female blue-berets.
According to Major General Pham Manh Thang, Director of the Vietnam Department of Peacekeeping Operations, Vietnam has sent nearly 1,100 personnel to three U.N. peacekeeping missions and U.N. headquarters. The department is actively making preparation for the formation of the Engineering Company Rotation 4 and Level-2 Field Hospital Rotation 7 to be deployed this year.
