Coordination boosted to build Vietnam - Cambodia friendship monuments in Cambodia
PANO - On December 29, the 7th meeting between the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense and the National Council of the Solidarity Front for Development of the Cambodian Motherland (SFDCM) on implementing a project to upgrade and repair the Vietnam-Cambodia friendship monuments in Cambodia took place in Ho Chi Minh City.
The event was co-chaired by Deputy Defense Minister Senior Lieutenant General Vo Minh Luong and Permanent Vice Chairman and General Secretary of the Council Nhem Valy, who is also the Chairman of the Committee for the upgrading and repairing project of Vietnam-Cambodia friendship monuments.

Addressing the event, General Luong appreciated the achievements in the Vietnam-Cambodia cooperation over the past time in general and between the two sides in particular, affirming that the completion of the Vietnam-Cambodia friendship monuments in Cambodia makes contribution to deepening the bilateral tradition of solidarity, friendship and cooperation. He also asked the Cambodian side to report to the Cambodian Government when inaugurating the Vietnam-Cambodia friendship monuments while building mechanism to manage, protect, exploit and promote the value of the project, so as to disseminate information and educate the public about the Vietnam-Cambodia solidarity and friendship.
For his part, Nhem VaLy thanked the Vietnamese government and Ministry of National Defense for working with and supporting Cambodia to build the friendship monuments in Cambodia. The special construction aims to pay tribute to Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and advisors who stood side by side with the Cambodian people in the fight against the Pol Pot genocidal regime.
In the time to come, both sides will continue to implement signed contents and take measures to accelerate the project with good quality.
They both affirmed that the friendship monuments are historical and cultural constructions representing the traditional solidarity and friendship between the two countries, and therefore need to be strictly managed, protected, and used effectively.
