Previously, on April 25, the Chinese side issued a diplomatic note proposing the organization of the first-ever joint training for the ground forces of the two countries. In response, the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense assigned Military Region 1 to coordinate with the Chinese side to implement the plan.

The first Vietnam–China Joint Army Training marks the first time that the two countries’ ground forces conduct a joint training exercise. This event holds significant importance as a practical activity to implement the Joint Declaration on deepening the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership and promoting the building of a Vietnam–China community with a shared future of strategic significance. It also contributes to advancing the six-pronged cooperation approach outlined by the high-level leaders of both countries, especially emphasizing “more substantive defense and security cooperation” in the framework of the Vietnam–China People-to-People Exchange Year 2025.
