Senior Colonel Luong Cong Thuc speaks at the event.

In his speech at the event, Senior Colonel Luong Cong Thuc, Director of Military Hospital 103 under the Military Medical University, emphasized that Vietnam has now been participating in U.N. peacekeeping operations for 10 years, and sending level-2 field hospitals, engineering companies, and individual personnel to U.N. missions.

At the same time, Australia has been a long-standing partner, providing support in English-language training, air medical evacuation training, and assisting in the transportation of personnel and equipment for the level-2 field hospitals to U.N. mission in South Sudan.

Cooperation in this field is a highlight in the relationship between the defense ministries of both countries, contributing to the development of bilateral cooperation. In addition to peacekeeping, military medicine is also an effective and practical field of defense cooperation between Vietnam and Australia.

At the exchange, chaired by Senior Colonel Luong Cong Thuc and Australian experts, delegates discussed topics, such as the capabilities, programs, and mental health services in the Australian Defense Force; management and mental healthcare for peacekeeping personnel; and mental health support activities.

The event helped raise competence of Vietnamese doctors and health workers on how to effectively protect mental health of troops during their task performance at U.N peacekeeping missions.

The two sides also agreed to join hands to hold similar meetings in the time to come.
