These activities not only contribute to raising public awareness and strengthening trust among the people, but also act as a vital “adhesive” fostering the Vietnam-Laos friendship, building a border of peace, stability, and sustainable development.

Information leads the way, building consensus in border areas

At Nam Can International Border Gate, a public electronic system now provides vivid multilingual videos. Moving beyond traditional entry and exit regulations, the content showcases the culture and development potential of Nghe An province and Vietnam.

Major Ho Tho, Deputy Political Officer of the Border Station of Nam Can International Border Gate, noted that dissemination previously relied on leaflets, posters, and loudspeakers. Electronic systems now make information more visual and accessible for visitors. These efforts extend to villages like Na Ngoi, where border guards use community meetings to explain legal regulations, territorial sovereignty, and Vietnam–Laos solidarity. Consequently, local awareness has improved, with residents proactively maintaining security.

Integrating external information with border and people-to-people diplomacy

The Nghe An provincial Border Guard Command has synchronized external information with border diplomacy to enhance effectiveness during international integration. Through joint patrols and meetings with Lao forces from Houaphanh, Xiengkhouang, and Bolikhamxay provinces, both sides exchange information and coordinate on emerging issues to build mutual trust.

Twinning models between border villages and cooperation in education and healthcare further promote the policies of both Parties and States. Additionally, assistance programs for disadvantaged Lao students serve as "vivid proof" of the special solidarity between the two nations, strengthening the "people’s posture" in border areas.

To counter increasingly sophisticated subversive activities in cyberspace, the provincial border guard force proactively monitors and refutes distorted information. Senior Colonel Tran Quang Trung, Political Commissar of the Nghe An provincial Border Guard Command, emphasized that external information must lead public opinion and safeguard the Party’s ideological foundation to maintain political stability. Parallel coordination with media agencies has formed a widespread "information front," using reports on border life to shape public opinion and enhance the image of Vietnam.
