The event drew the participation of nearly 100 people who are border guard officers, soldiers, and others from the local armed forces, local party committees, authorities and residents of border villages.
The program aims to practically respond to the “Green Border Journey,” implement President Ho Chi Minh’s instruction on tree planting, and spread the message of Party General Secretary To Lam that “One more green tree is planted, one more belief in the future is placed.”
The activity contributed to building a protective corridor along the border and around border markers, helping prevent soil erosion and landslides, while affirming the nation’s territorial sovereignty.
Following the launch ceremony, participants planted 1,200 cunninghamia lanceolata trees on an area of two hectares along the border section of Markers 218 and 219 in Ta Chai village, Ban May commune. The planting belt stretches more than 500 meters in length and is located 20 to 100 meters inside Vietnam’s territory from the border.
After planting, households living along the border will take responsibility for caring for and protecting the trees for two years under the supervision of Ban May Border Post and local authorities. The trees will then be handed over to the locality for long-term management.
