Ship 17 arrives at the naval base of Brigade 171 of the Vietnam People’s Navy.

At the welcoming ceremony at the naval base, Senior Captain Do Hong Duyen, Deputy Political Commissar of Naval Region 2, praised the officers and sailors of Ship 17 for overcoming difficulties and successfully fulfilling their assigned tasks, contributing to enhancing the prestige of the Vietnam People’s Navy.

He also urged the delegation to quickly stabilize their organization, return to their units, and continue carrying out assigned duties, particularly ensuring security and safety for the upcoming election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026–2031 term, while also exercising their civic rights and responsibilities on the election day.

Earlier, on January 28 morning, Ship 17 departed from the naval base of Brigade 171 along with a delegation of the Vietnam People’s Navy for India to take part in activities within the framework of the MILAN 2026. The delegation was led by Senior Captain Le Dinh Nghi, Deputy Chief of Staff of Naval Region 2.

During the voyage, the delegation engaged in various exchange and external defense activities, including courtesy calls on local authorities at ports of call, a visit to the Lumut naval base of the Malaysian Navy, as well as cultural, artistic and sports exchanges and receptions hosted by partner countries.

In India, Ship 17 and the Vietnamese delegation fully participated in all activities of the exercise. Over a voyage of more than 5,000 nautical miles, the ship’s officers and sailors also conducted long-distance sea training, enhancing their command and coordination capabilities, combat readiness and proficiency in operating weapons and technical equipment, while improving the physical endurance of the crew.

The trip was made at the invitation of the Malaysian and Indian Navies, aiming to further strengthen the friendship and cooperation between the Vietnamese military and navy and their counterparts in the region. Ship 17 and the delegation successfully accomplished its mission, helping promote the image of Vietnam and its people as friendly and responsible, while conveying a message of peace, friendship and cooperation for stability and prosperity in the region and world.
