An overview of the meeting aboard Ship 568 of the Chinese navy

At the meeting, Captain Hanfeng, Deputy Chief of Staff of Guangzhou Base under the Chinese People’s Liberation Army Navy, welcomed the Vietnamese delegation and crew-members of Frigates 015-Tran Hung Dao, 012-Ly Thai To to visit Fangchenggang city and participate in the exchange activities. He expressed his hope that the visit would leave positive impressions and good memories on officers and sailors of both navies.

Senior Captain Do Minh, Deputy Commander of Naval Region 4 and head of the Vietnamese delegation, thanked the leadership of the Guangzhou Base in particular and the Chinese People’s Liberation Army Navy in general for their warm and thoughtful reception. He expressed confidence that, with joint efforts from both sides, the activities within the framework of the three aforementioned events would be successfully carried out. These activities would further enhance mutual understanding and trust between the two navies and militaries, helping strengthen the fine traditional friendship between Vietnam and China.

The two commanders expressed satisfaction that, in recent years, the joint patrol mechanism has contributed to maintaining security and order in the Gulf of Tonkin, improving the capacity to respond to non-traditional security challenges, and enhancing mutual trust and understanding, thus promoting the growing cooperative and friendly relations between the Vietnam People’s Navy and the Chinese navy.

This time’s joint patrol and training mission features several new elements. Notably, the Ministers of National Defense of the two countries will be present at Fangcheng Port to hear reports from the commanders of the ships on preparations and to give departure orders for the mission. Training contents are more diverse. Attentively, for the first time, the two navies will conduct a live-fire exercise using light weapons in an anti-piracy scenario.
