Vietnamese frigates begin defense external activities in China
PANO - On the morning of March 16, Frigate 015-Tran Hung Dao and Frigate 012-Ly Thai To of Brigade 162, Naval Region 4, with a delegation of the Vietnam People’s Navy led by Senior Captain Do Minh, Second-in-Command of Naval Region 4, aboard, arrived at Fangcheng port in China’s Guangxi, beginning activities within the framework of the 10th Vietnam - China Border Defense Friendship Exchange, the 40th joint patrol and a joint training program in the Gulf of Tonkin with the Chinese Navy.
A formal welcoming ceremony for the Vietnamese frigates and delegation was held right at the port under the chair of Captain Hanfeng, Deputy Chief of Staff of Guangzhou Base of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army Navy.

During the stay of Frigates 015 and 012 at Fangcheng port, commanders of both sides’ naval ships will hold courtesy meetings. Officers and sailors of the two navies will have reciprocal ship visits, exchange professional experience and participate in sports and cultural exchanges. The two sides will also hold meetings to finalize plans for the joint patrol and joint training.

Notably, within the framework of the 10th Vietnam-China Border Defense Friendship Exchange, the defense ministers and military delegations of both countries are expected to visit the naval ships and listen to reports on preparations for the joint patrol and joint training in the Gulf of Tonkin.

During the upcoming 40th joint patrol and joint training in the Gulf of Tonkin, naval ships of Vietnam and China are expected to conduct several exercises, including formation maneuvering, maritime escort operations, light signal communications, anti-piracy operations, search and rescue, and ship damage control.
