The program, launched on December 15, was in the framework of the defense exchange between the armed forces of Thanh Hoa and Houaphanh provinces.

Accordingly, at Doi Village Primary School, more than 200 local people had their health examined and received health counselling, hygiene, and disease prevention advice from experienced medical personnel from the two militaries and the two provinces of Thanh Hoa and Houaphanh.

Apart from the aforementioned activities, the Thanh Hoa provincial armed forces presented 30 gifts, each worth VND 1.5 million, to disadvantaged students with good academic records.

Senior Colonel Le Van Trung, Political Commissar of the Thanh Hoa provincial Military Command, said that the program helped consolidate the close-knit ties between the two countries, particularly the relationship between Party committees, authorities and people in border areas. It also contributed to promoting the sense of responsibility of the border protection forces of the two nations, furthering their close and effective coordination in managing and protecting the border, border markers, and fighting against crimes, supporting border people in hunger elimination and poverty reduction, as well as building the Thanh Hoa - Houaphanh border area of peace, friendship, stability, cooperation, and development.

The defense exchange between the armed forces of Thanh Hoa and Houaphanh provinces was officially kick-started on December 16 at Na Meo International Border Gate in Quan Son district, Thanh Hoa province. The exchange featured many meaningful activities in celebration of the 80th founding anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Army and 35 years of the Whole-People Defense Festive Day.
