At the meeting, Gen. Giang affirmed that Vietnam always attaches great importance to its traditional friendship with India. He believed that the visit by Defense Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh and his delegation would be a great success, contributing to further strengthening the friendship, cooperation, mutual trust, and understanding between the two countries and their militaries.

The Vietnamese defense chief highlighted the expansion, substantive and effective development of the bilateral defense cooperation. He emphasized both sides’ coordination in implementing signed agreements, maintaining consultation and dialogue mechanisms, organizing young officers’ exchanges, fostering training and education cooperation, service-to-service collaboration, U.N. peacekeeping operations, and mutual support at multilateral forums.

He highly appreciated and expressed sincere thanks to the Government and Ministry of Defense of India for their support and assistance to Vietnam over the years, particularly in offering free training courses for hundreds of officers of the Vietnam People’s Army across various fields, and providing aid and preferential credit packages to Vietnam.

The host welcomed the outcomes of the 15th Vietnam - India Defense Policy Dialogue. Emphasizing the huge potential for cooperation, he suggested the two defense ministries continue to promote their friendship, mutual trust, and understanding, further deepening and enhancing the effectiveness of bilateral defense ties.

For his part, the Defense Secretary of India affirmed that India and Vietnam share many similarities in culture, people, and history. He emphasized that defense cooperation serves as an important driving force in advancing the overall relationship between the two countries.

He expressed his belief that the defense policy dialogue would be an important platform for the two countries to develop their bilateral cooperation stronger in the time ahead.
