Drawing the participation of more than 500 military leaders, experts and scholars from 74 countries and organizations around the world, the Beijing Xiangshan Forum was larger than the previous editions, in terms of both agenda and size.

According to Major General Vu Tien Trong, Director of the Defense Institute for International Relations, the forum's theme "Building a New Type of Security Partnership of Equality, Mutual Trust and Win-Win Cooperation" was a key message of Chinese leaders and the Ministry of Defense to the international community. China now plays a great role in global security, so the country wants to express its view that the security of a nation depends on healthy environments, strategies of its neighbors and other countries in the region and the world. Therefore, this year forum's theme was positively applauded by its neighbors and countries in the region.
Gen. Trong highly praised the positive trend of the 8th Beijing Xiangshan Forum, saying that it is in agreement with the views and desires of China in maintaining and handling security issues in the region and the world, especially hot issues such as peace in the Korean Peninsula, and East Sea.
"All countries are interested in cooperation with China based on the messages China has conveyed. These messages aim to build a new type of cooperative security relationship based on mutual trust and win-win cooperation. Besides, they also expressed their hope that China will join the international community to solve issues in the region, contributing to maintaining peace, stability for benefits of all countries," added Gen. Trong.
Addressing the forum, Gen. Ngo Xuan Lich reviewed again the security situation in the regions, current cooperation mechanisms and roles of the big nations; and announced Vietnam's responsibility in dealing with regional and international issues for peace. The message presented by Vietnam's Minister of National Defense at the forum confirmed that Vietnam is willing to stand side by side with other countries in building a strong security cooperation mechanism to maintain peace, stability, security, prosperity and development in the region.
