On July 22, IDEF-2025 officially opened with the attendance of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and more than 1,000 guests from various countries.
Held biennially, the IDEF is one of the world’s most prestigious defense industry fairs, attracting the attendance of representatives from Governments, Ministries of National Defense, militaries, and major defense industry corporations in the world. The Vietnamese MND delegation’s participation in this event shows its commitment to international cooperation in defense industry, affirming that the Government and MND of Vietnam always promote international cooperation and exchange in this field based on equality, mutual benefit, and respect for Vietnamese law and international commitments.

Within the framework of the event, Sr. Lt. Gen. Hoang Xuan Chien had a bilateral meeting with Minister of Defense Industry of Azerbaijan Vugar Mustafayev. He expressed his hope that both sides would promote cooperation in the defense industry, beginning with the exchange of working-level delegations to understand each other's capabilities and needs.
He emphasized that the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense is ready to welcome a delegation from the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense Industry to Vietnam in the near future.
The Vietnamese deputy defense leader emphasized that the Vietnamese MND is ready to welcome a delegation from the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense Industry to Vietnam in the near future. He also assigned the General Department of Defense Industry and Viettel to coordinate with the Azerbaijani side in implementing specific areas of cooperation.

For his part, Minister Vugar Mustafayev agreed to create favorable conditions for defense enterprises of both countries to contact and seek cooperation opportunities in defense industry, hoping that the two sides would further promote collaboration in this field and confirming Azerbaijan’s readiness to send delegations, enterprises, and defense industry organizations to participate in the Vietnam Defense Expo.
At the IDEF-2025, Gen. Chien and the delegation visited booths and engaged with defense companies from Turkey and other countries.
