These two key projects were among 250 projects commenced and inaugurated on August 19 to mark the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19) and National Day (September 2) with a total investment of VND 1.28 quadrillion.
Viettel Research and Development Center
With an investment of VND 10 trillion, the Viettel Research and Development (R&D) Center will be built on 13 hectares within Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park. The project includes six smart buildings and is scheduled for completion by 2030.

The center will be Viettel’s flagship R&D hub, covering the full cycle of research, design, prototyping, and production of “Made in Vietnam” high-tech products. Its scope ranges from mastering technologies for missile systems, cruise engines, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), remote sensing satellites, and radar equipment for national defense, to developing technologies in Big Data, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and cloud computing to meet market needs.
The center is designed to international standards for smart, green, and sustainable operations. Security is ensured through multiple protective layers with the most advanced technologies. Upon completion, the center will employ 2,500 high-quality engineers and researchers, serving the Party, State, and Ministry of National Defense’s strategy to modernize the military, strengthen combat readiness and national protection in the new situation.
An Khanh Data Center
An Khanh Data Center will cover 1.9 hectares, with a total investment of VND 17.5 trillion and a designed capacity of 60MW, making it the largest data center in the north. Phase 1 is expected to be operational by the second quarter of 2026, with plans to upgrade it into Viettel’s second hyperscale data center by 2030.

Built to Uptime Tier III standards, the facility integrates Viettel-developed AI, a five-layer security system, and advanced cooling technology to ensure green, sustainable operations aligned with the Government’s net zero targets.
It will serve as a key infrastructure for national digital transformation, supporting the Government, Ministry of National Defense, large enterprises, and nationwide AI deployment.
Strategic commitment
Viettel Group Chairman and General Director Lieutenant General Tao Duc Thang emphasized that Viettel is committed to completing the projects on schedule, exceeding quality requirements, and meeting international standards. These facilities will not only be state-of-the-art research and digital infrastructure for today but also a sustainable foundation for future generations.
This year alone, Viettel has launched a series of strategic projects, including Tan Phu Trung Data Center and the Viettel Da Nang Tower, contributing to the development of modern infrastructure to meet national defense requirements and support Vietnam’s digital transformation agenda.
