The FCS 5009 has a maximum length of 53.25 meters, a maximum beam of 10.1 meters, a molded depth of 4.7 meters and a draft of 3.2 meters. It is equipped with a powerful propulsion system comprising four main engines with a combined output of up to 6,000 horsepower (4,472 kW), driving four propeller shafts. The vessel can cruise at 22 knots, with a maximum speed of 26–31 knots depending on its load configuration.

At its optimal operating setting, the vessel has a range of 3,100 nautical miles and can accommodate between 80 and 100 crew members and passengers.
