Vietnam Coast Guard ship pays first visit to India
PANO - Ship CBS 8001 from Coast Guard Region 3, led by Deputy Commander Colonel Nguyen Minh Khanh, docked at Chennai port, Chennai city, Tamil Nadu state on October 2, beginning its four-day visit to India at the invitation of Rear Admiral Paramesh, Commander of the Indian Coast Guard Eastern Region.

This was the first time a ship of the Vietnam Coast Guard had visited India, marking the development of the special ties between the Vietnam Coast Guard and India Coast Guard.
Following the welcome ceremony, officers of the Indian Coast Guard Eastern Region and officials and students of Chennai city visited the vessel.
During their stay in India, the Vietnamese coast guard delegation will pay a courtesy call to the Command of the Indian Coast Guard Eastern Region, visit the Chennai search and rescue center to share experience in law enforcement at sea and preventing piracy, conduct sports exchanges with their Indian peers and visit some cultural facilities in the city.

Earlier on October 1, the Vietnam Coast Guard and Indian Coast Guard held high-level talks in New Delhi to discuss bilateral cooperation in maritime security and safety.
The six-member Vietnamese delegation was led by Commander, Major General Nguyen Van Son while the Indian delegation was headed by Commander Rajendra Singh.
Both sides agreed to enhance cooperation in line with terms of a memorandum of understanding and share experience in operational management and promotion.
