During a working session with local authorities, the delegation heard a report on the implementation of socio-economic development tasks in 2025 and the first quarter of 2026. According to the report, the special zone maintained a socio-economic growth rate of 16.5%, with services and tourism continuing to play a leading role, accounting for 68.5% of the local economy. National defense and security remained stable.

The delegation also visited and presented gifts to local agencies, armed forces personnel stationed on the island, disadvantaged families and students who overcame hardships to achieve strong academic results.

At Co To Fishing Port, the delegation conducted legal awareness activities aimed at combating illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing. National flags and gifts were also distributed to encourage fishermen to continue operating offshore and contribute to safeguarding Vietnam’s maritime sovereignty.

Activities during the program

After four days of field surveys across the coastal waters and islands of the Gulf of Tonkin, including meetings with local authorities and fishermen who work at sea every day, the mission concluded with many meaningful results.

The trip not only provided valuable practical information to support marine economic development, but also helped strengthen ties between the military and local communities, while promoting shared responsibility for protecting sovereignty, security and order in Vietnam’s sea and islands.
