Coast Guard Region 1 delegation visits troops and residents on Bach Long Vi Island
PANO - Despite rough sea in the Gulf of Tonkin, a delegation from Coast Guard Region 1, together with representatives from Northern provinces, visited and encouraged troops and residents on Bach Long Vi Island.
The series of activities, including offering incense in tribute to fallen troops, presenting gifts to on-duty forces, and supporting fishermen and islanders, demonstrated the affection and responsibility of the mainland toward the island, contributing to strengthening the people’s heart posture and firmly safeguarding national sovereignty over sea and islands.

Braving high waves, the delegation is about to land on Bach Long Vi Island. |
Having arrived on the island, the delegation held an incense-offering ceremony at Bach Long Vi war cemetery to commemorate fallen troops. Before the spirits of those who sacrificed their lives for the sacred cause of protecting national maritime sovereignty, delegates expressed deep gratitude and pledged to continue upholding national traditions and firmly defending the country’s sea and islands in the new situation.
The delegation also presented gifts to policy beneficiary families, disadvantaged households and students with good academic records. These activities not only carried significant humanitarian meaning, but also helped strengthen the confidence of local residents to continue living and remaining attached to national seas and islands.
At the anchorage area of Bach Long Vi Island, the delegation directly met and encouraged fishermen operating in the Gulf of Tonkin fishing grounds. On this occasion, they presented 30 gift packages to fishermen, helping ease their hardships and encouraging them to continue going offshore, holding onto the sea, and joining hands with functional forces in safeguarding national maritime sovereignty.
The delegation also visited and encouraged officers and soldiers aboard Coast Guard Ship 8007, which was patrolling in the Bach Long Vi waters.
