Vietnamese and Cambodian localities review repatriation of fallen soldiers’ remains
PANO - A delegation of Vietnam’s Dak Lak provincial Steering Committee 515, led by Political Commissar of the provincial Military Command Senior Colonel Tran Minh Trong, has held talks with Cambodia’s Mondulkiri provincial Special Task Force on the repatriation of remains of the Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and military advisors, who laid down their lives in Cambodia while conducting international service in the country.
During the talks, both sides emphasized that searching for and collecting the remains of fallen soldiers is a noble mission. It reflects deep reverence and eternal gratitude toward the heroic soldiers who laid down their lives for the noble international mission and contributed to the glorious history of the traditional friendship between the two nations.

According to the Memorandum of Understanding signed on October 15, 2024, the search and collection mission for the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and military advisors in Cambodia during the 2024 - 2025 dry season has received special attention. Both committees have organized meetings, exchanges, and discussions to promote the collaboration, resolve difficulties, and create favorable conditions for Team K51 under the Dak Lak provincial Military Command to fulfill their mission.

Paying tribute to the fallen |
After more than five months, thanks to the dedicated support from the local authorities, armed forces, and the Cambodian, Team K51 has collected 21 sets of remains of fallen soldiers, along with many personal artifacts belonging to Vietnamese troops.
At the event, a representative from the Mondulkiri provincial Special Task Force expressed profound gratitude for the heartfelt and righteous contributions of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and military advisors who stood shoulder to shoulder, sharing hardships and making sacrifices to help Mondulkiri province in particular and Cambodia in general achieve peace and independence. She affirmed that the sacrifices of the Vietnamese troops stand as a symbol and proof of the profound solidarity and unwavering loyalty that the people of Cambodia will always remember in a historic milestone in their revolutionary journey.
On behalf of Dak Lak’s delegation, Sr. Col. Trong highly appreciated Mondulkir’s enthusiastic cooperation and support for Team K51 to complete their assigned mission. He added that the efforts from both sides demonstrated the close friendship between Dak Lak and Mondulkiri provinces in particular and between Vietnam and Cambodia in general and the deep gratitude for the sacrifices of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and military advisors to bring about Cambodia’s revival.

Both parties agreed on the time and arrangements for a ceremony to repatriate the remains of the fallen found during the 2024-2025 dry season in Cambodia. The event is expected to take place on May 28 and will be organized according to the customs, rituals, and regulations of both countries. This contributes to educating today’s young generation to carry forward the traditional values built by previous generations.
