Quang Binh: Search, collection of martyrs’ remains in 2023-2024 dry season starts
PANO - Quang Binh province’s the Steering Committee for search, collection, and verification of fallen soldiers’ remains (Steering Committee 515) held a ceremony on October 12 in Dong Hoi city to see off a team to conduct the search and collection of remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers in Laos in the 2023-2024 dry season.
In the 2023-2024 dry season, the Military Region 4 Command assigned Team 589 in charge of search and collection of remains of fallen soldiers to conduct the mission in Laos’ localities.
The team has completed all preparation of forces, vehicles, and equipment. All members of the team are determined to excellently complete this significant mission.
Over the past time, the Quang Binh provincial Military Command has well coordinated with Laos’ Khammouan provincial Military Command to follow situational development and collect information related to the search and collection of remains of fallen soldiers, thus facilitating Team 589’s task performance. The unit has also given advice and facilitated the signing of a coordination agreement between Quang Binh province’s Steering Committee 515 and Khammouan’s Special Working Committee and completed all essential procedures for Team 589 to conduct mission in Laos.
Speaking at the event, Deputy Chairman of the Quang Binh provincial People’s Committee Ho An Phong praised the results of the work of searching and collecting remains of volunteer soldiers and advisors who laid down their lives in Laos while conducting international duties and in Quang Binh over the past time.

Mentioning difficulties and challenges confronting the search and collection efforts, the local leader asked members of the team to be determined and overcome difficulties to excellently complete the assigned missions.
Together with the main political mission, he requested the team to well conduct defense relations work, strictly observe Laos’ law and customs, and actively support Lao people in production and hunger elimination and poverty reduction, thus strengthening military-civilian solidarity and enriching the beautiful traditions of the heroic Vietnam People’s Army.
Earlier, leaders of the Quang Binh provincial Military Command and Team 589 offered incense and flowers in tribute to President Ho Chi Minh and fallen soldiers.
