More martyrs’ remains repatriated in Cambodia
PANO - According to a report from Team K52 under the Department of Political Affairs of the Gia Lai Provincial Military Command, on May 7, the team recovered two more sets of martyrs’ remains in Ya Tung commune, Ou Ya Dav district, Ratanakiri province, Cambodia.
After receiving information about the burial locations of Vietnamese martyrs who sacrificed their lives in Pak Nhai commune area of Ou Ya Dav district — once an operational area of Vietnamese troops during the 1968-1973 period — the unit organized excavation activities and discovered two sets of martyrs’ remains along with several personal belongings. The remains have not yet been identified, and biological samples were collected for identification in accordance with regulations.

From November 19, 2025 to May 7, 2026, Team K52 searched for and repatriated 18 sets of remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and advisers who sacrificed their lives in Cambodia during different wartime periods. Of these, eight sets were recovered in Ratanakiri province, seven in Stung Treng province, and three in Preah Vihear province.

In response to and implementation of the Government’s “500-day-and-night campaign to accelerate the search, collection, and identification of martyrs’ remains,” the personnel of Team K52 continue to uphold a strong sense of responsibility, clearly define their missions, and strengthen their determination to overcome difficulties related to information shortages, terrain, and harsh weather conditions. They are concentrating manpower and equipment on verifying additional information and actively expanding the search and recovery scope in the three Cambodian provinces of Ratanakiri, Stung Treng, and Preah Vihear.
