Colonel Nguyen Van Tan, the Political Chief of the Martyrs' Remains Search and Collection Team under the Ha Giang Provincial Military Command, shared that since 2018, the team has found 141 sets of martyrs' remains and one mass grave. Currently, the search is challenging due to the complicated locations of the remains and terrain changes. However, the search team always demonstrates high determination, responsibility, and effort to fulfill their mission.

Since the beginning of 2024, the team has searched and collected 9 unidentified sets of martyrs' remains in Giang Nam and Nam Ngat hamlets, Thanh Thuy commune. All sets of remains are relatively intact, and the condition of biological samples and artifacts is favorable for DNA testing to determine the identities of the martyrs soon.

Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of the Ha Giang Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van Son expressed deep gratitude to the fallen heroes who sacrificed themselves to protect the national border areas. Son affirmed that in the future, the authorities and residents of Ha Giang province will persist in conducting gratitude activities, enhancing mine clearance efforts in former battlefields to aid in the retrieval of martyrs' remains, and diligently tending to graves. They will solemnly hold memorial and burial services for the martyrs at Vi Xuyen National War Cemetery.
