The meeting was to mark the 75th anniversary of Wounded and Fallen Soldiers’ Day (July 27, 1947 - 2022) and the founding anniversary of the association (July 14).
Speaking at the event, the State leader said that the battle to safeguard the northern border in Vi Xuyen Front was always an important part in the history of national defense of the Vietnamese people. He emphasized that the Party, State and people always bear in mind the sacrifice and devotion of troops and individuals who joined the battle to defend the country’s northern border as well as the struggles for national independence, reunification and territorial integrity.

President Phuc was moved meeting war veterans, including generals who took part in both the fierce resistance war against French colonialists and American imperialists and the struggle to safeguard northern border in Vi Xuyen Front. He stressed that they are living witnesses of the glorious and arduous period of the wartime.
The State President highly lauded the efforts of the association and the liaison board of Vi Xuyen Front over the past 6 years. He said that with 22,000 members, the association has continuously consolidated its organization with diverse and practical activities and helped its members stabilize their life.
The President hoped that war veterans of Vi Xuyen Front will actively respond and participate in the association's activities, well implement the Party’s guidelines and the State’s policies and laws, proactively give advice to the Party and State to better care for wounded soldiers, martyrs and national contributors, and call on and cooperate with agencies and ministries to organize more practical and meaningful activities to pay gratitude to needy war veterans and overcome war legacy.
He also urged the war veterans to constantly promote the glorious tradition and the revolutionary spirit of soldiers and educate the young generation about the historical values of the northern border defense war.
President Phuc asked Ha Giang province, agencies and ministries to upgrade the Vi Xuyen National War Cemetery and other cemeteries in the locality, further support the association in carrying out history dissemination and education activities, protect historical relic sites, foster gratitude activities, and pay attention to searching and collecting sets of remains of fallen soldiers.
