The remains of three martyrs found on Hill 211 in Giang Nam hamlet, Thanh Thuy commune, Vi Xuyen district, Ha Giang province |
During the first search and collection program in 2023, the Search and Collection Team under the Ha Giang provincial Military Command discovered three sets of martyrs' remains on Hill 211. While these remains have not yet been identified, the biological samples and martyrs’ belongings are in good conditions and will be used for DNA testing to aid the identification.
Colonel Thao Mi Dinh, Head of the Search and Collection Team, stated that the team plans to conduct further excavations in the second quarter of 2023 at locations provided by the Vi Xuyen Veterans' Club in Vi Xuyen district. The terrain has been deformed for nearly 40 years, and the rock layers have been impacted by artillery shells, making it challenging to excavate the buried tunnels. Nevertheless, the local Search and Rescue Team is determined to continue searching and excavating the remains of martyrs with responsibility and a sacred duty.
