Huge bomb safely defused in Nghe An
PANO – The engineering force of the Nghe An Provincial Military Command successfully detonated a 350kg bomb left from wartime on July 9.
Earlier, while clearing land for planting trees, Nguyen Van Minh from village 3, Nam Dan commune, Nghe An Province discovered the bomb.

Upon receiving the report, the Nghe An Provincial Military Command directed the engineering force to coordinate with other forces to isolate the area, set up warning signs, and notify local people of the situation. Meanwhile, local militia forces were mobilized to work with the commune’s police force to guard the site to ensure public safety.
Through professional examination, the engineering force identified the bomb as a foreign-manufactured M117 bomb, which weighed approximately 350kg, was 1.2 meters long, and 0.4 meters in diameter, with its original detonator. This is the third bomb of this kind detected in the area.

After disabling the fuse, the bomb was safely transported to a designated training field in the locality, where it was successfully detonated.
