Non-commissioned officer bravely saves drowning woman
PANO – Non-commissioned Captain Ngo Van Thu, a staff of the Ha Nam provincial Military Command, saved a woman from drowning on September 17.

Reportedly, on the way back home from his office, Thu saw many people shouting to rescue a woman drowning in the river. Without hesitation, he jumped into the river from Chau Son Bridge to save the victim.
He quickly swam, approached the victim, grabbed her back of the neck and lifted her head out of the water to ensure her safety.
Fortunately, while he was taking the victim ashore, a local fishing boat came along; therefore, he clung to the side of the boat, and the fisherman safely brought the victim ashore and handed over her to the police force.
According to Colonel Nguyen Hong Van, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Ha Nam provincial Military Command, Captain Ngo Van Thu is an enthusiastic and responsible officer. He is friendly and willing to help others.

He added that Thu once participated in the defense sports festival held by Military Region 3.
In recognizing his courage, leaders of the provincial Military Command decided to present a certificate of merit to Captain Ngo Van Thu.
The good deed of officer Thu helps enrich the virtue of Uncle Ho’s soldiers and strengthen the military-civilian solidarity.
