In Huong Khe district, floodwater has begun to recede slowly. However, many areas in the locality are still isolated and people find it difficult to travel.

Despite rains and other risks to their lives, on the evening of November 1, in Khe Ba bridge area, Ha Linh commune, troops from Huong Khe district Military Command and militia troops of the commune, led by Colonel Ho Manh Thich, the command’s chief, kept searching for a missing in both upstream and downstream directions, using rescue motorboats. Earlier, in the morning, a team including troops and militia force, led by Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Cao Cuong, Deputy Chief of Staff of the command, also conducted the search in suspected areas in the commune.

Colonel Thich said that on October 30, being notified of two people going missing due to the flooding, the command promptly sent troops and vehicles to the scene, finding one body. As of the morning of November 2, the force did not found the second missing victim; therefore, the search for her kept going.

In Dien My and Huong Thuy communes of Huong Khe district, local people and other forces are cleaning the environment. In the latest flooding, 123 houses in Huong Thuy commune were flooded, the kindergarten was 2m under the water, and damage to farm produce was huge. Meanwhile, in Dien My commune, 198 houses were submerged, the kindergarten was deeply flooded, and so was the commune’s people's committee headquarters.

Nguyen Trong Anh, Vice Chairman of Dien My commune People’s Committee said that thanks to active preparations, the locality recorded no human casualty. The locality has planned to provide food for needy households. For local people, the coming winter crop is really the most difficult since food for cattle was damaged by recent rains and flooding.

In Dien My commune, the damage caused by the recent flooding was limited thanks to the presence of flood-resilient houses built under the care of local authorities and financial support from benefactors.

Apart from troops from the local military command, border guards from posts under the Ha Tinh provincial Border Guard Command have also supported local people to surmount the aftermaths of the flooding to soon resume their normal life and production. Border guards have cleaned schools, cultural houses, cleared roads and assisted the elderly and policy beneficiaries.

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Duc Anh, Political Commissar of Hoa Hai Border Post, said that the post will continue supporting local people to clean their houses and prevent diseases.

At noon of November 2, the search team of Huong Khe district Military Command found the body of the second missing victim.
