On the evening of September 2, following a command from a higher level, the company deployed an experienced flight crew aboard an EC-225 helicopter, registration VN-8622. The aircraft departed Vung Tau Airport for Tan Son Nhat International Airport, where it picked up a specialized emergency medical team from Military Hospital 175 before flying to Truong Sa.

The mission followed an accident involving fisherman Nguyen Van Hien, born in 1974 and from Quy Nhon ward, Gia Lai province. At about 4:30 a.m. on September 1, while hauling a fishing net at sea, Hien was struck in the face by a broken pulley. He fell unconscious onto the deck and suffered multiple injuries and heavy bleeding to his head, jaw, and face. After regaining consciousness about three hours later, he was taken to DK1/7 Platform under Naval Region 2 for first aid, bandaging, and bleeding control.

At 12:45 a.m. on September 2, Hien was transferred to the Truong Sa Island Infirmary. Following an online consultation with Military Hospital 175, doctors diagnosed him with multiple traumatic injuries, traumatic brain injury, a fracture of the left mandible, and a fracture of the right zygomatic arch. His condition was considered serious.
Because the island's medical facilities could not provide prolonged specialized treatment, the doctors called for evacuation of the patient to the mainland by air for timely treatment.
After several hours of overnight flight over the sea, the EC-225 landed safely at the helipad of Military Hospital 175 at 3:52 a.m. on September 3. The medical team immediately took Hien into the hospital for emergency and specialized care.

Despite challenging weather conditions, a long flight, and multiple takeoffs and landings, the Southern Viet Nam Helicopter Company made thorough preparations and closely coordinated with relevant forces throughout the mission. The operation was completed safely and successfully.
The successful evacuation demonstrates the company's responsibility and its ability to respond rapidly, accurately and effectively in military aviation, medical evacuation, search and rescue missions. It also contributes to protecting the health and lives of the people and helping fishermen remain at sea while safeguarding the nation's sacred sovereignty.
