Accordingly, on May 5, Coast Guard Region 1 of the Vietnam Coast Guard, in association with the authorities of Hoang Chau commune of Hai Phong City’s Cat Hai district, visited and presented gifts to needy fishermen in the locality.
The mission handed over 200 gifts, including VND 300,000 in cash, rice, cooking oil, monosodium glutamate, and facemasks each, to assist fishermen in dealing with difficulties caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Since the pandemic broke out, the Vietnam Coast Guard has promoted information dissemination to help more than 10,000 fishermen raise their awareness of the disease and presented 24,000 medical face masks, 7,000 hand sanitizer bottles and 3.2 tons of rice. The force also transported around 4,000 cubic meters of fresh water and gave 1,100 water bottles and tanks to those in areas in the Southwest region effected by drought.
On the same day, the border troops of Vung Tau’s Border Port and the People’s Committee of Vung Tau city’s ward 11, held a program to assist residents in need during the pandemic.
At the event, organizers handed over 200 gifts, including 1kg of rice, a cooking oil bottle, and VND 200,000 in cash each, to needy households in Vung Tau city.
The unit’s troops also measured local people’s body temperatures, provided face masks, and instructed them on how to wash their hands properly.
