Previously, at 6:30 p.m. on February 25, the Coast Guard Region 3 Command was informed by the Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center of Region 3 (MRCC III) about the Danisa, a Panama-flagged oil tanker heading to China. The ship, located approximately 111 nautical miles south-southeast of Con Dao district, Ba Ria - Vung Tau province, reported that one of its crew-members was suspected of having acute appendicitis. As the patient's condition deteriorated, the ship changed its course toward Con Dao to transport the patient for emergency treatment.

Upon receiving the news, at 1:30 a.m. on February 26, the Coast Guard Region 3 Command dispatched Coast Guard Ship 2011 to carry out the rescue mission. Accompanying the vessel was a medical team from the Con Dao Military-Civilian Medical Center.

By 2:50 a.m., Coast Guard Ship 2011 reached the Danisa, transferred the patient, Dao Van Quang (born in 1985, from Quynh Luu, Nghe An province), onboard, and provided him with immediate first aid.

At 4:15 a.m., Coast Guard Ship 2011 arrived at Squadron 33’s port, where the patient was swiftly transported to the Con Dao Military-Civilian Medical Center in Ba Ria – Vung Tau for further medical care.
