Civilian, military units work together to prevent crime
PANO – In the coming time, civilian and military units should boost cooperation and grasp thoroughly key tasks with the focus on important missions before, during and after the Lunar New Year and promote dissemination to help people embrace and strictly observe laws and strengthen political security and public order.
The request was made by Senior Lieutenant General Le Chiem, member of Party Central Committee, Deputy Defense Minister and Head of Steering Committee 1389 (Steering Committee for the implementation of the National Plan on Combat against Drug-related Crimes, Human Trafficking, Smuggling, Trade Fraud and Counterfeit and on Practice of Thrift and Anti-wastefulness) of the Ministry of National Defense (MND) at the meeting with Quang Ninh provincial Border Guard and Coast Guard Region 1 of the Vietnam Coast Guard, on January 17.

He also asked the units to promote educating and managing staff, especially those related to economic cases to contribute to preventing crime.
At the meeting, General Chiem praised achievements of the Steering Committee 1389 of Quang Ninh provincial Border Guard and Coast Guard Region 1 in carrying out the assigned tasks. Particularly, last year the two units cooperated closely with local forces in fighting against drug-related crimes, human trafficking, corruption, trade fraud and counterfeit, ensure security and traffic safety in border areas and at ports and mobilize local people to denounce illegal acts.
Also during the day, General Chiem and his entourage inspected Hon Gai Port Border Post and Tuan Chau Border Check-point of Quang Ninh provincial Border Guard.
